If you find that you’re eating more throughout the day because you’re bored, or just because food is delicious, you are definitely boredom eating. It’s important to remember that food is for nutrition, and it is meant to fuel body. Occasionally indulging is part of taking care of yourself, but eating all day can create bad habits. You also might find that you are spending more money on groceries! You are likely consuming unneeded calories, so try to limit yourself to 3 meals and 2 small snacks each day. Be aware of portion sizes, too! Some people don’t realize they are eating 2-3x the recommended amount of their favorite snack foods. Eating good foods can release extra dopamine in the brain, but make sure you’re not eating more calories than you’re consuming, unless you’re trying to gain weight. Here are some healthy snack ideas! 

  • Nuts
  • Red or green bell pepper strips, with hummus or guacamole
  • Apple slices and peanut butter
  • Yogurt and berries
  • Celery with cream cheese or peanut butter
  • Dark chocolate chips and almonds
  • Mandarin oranges
  • Cottage cheese and pineapple
  • Fruit and yogurt smoothies
