• We have a sailboat- Lake Coeur d’ Alene is gorgeous year round, but in the summer it’s great to take students and staff out on the water. The stillness and beauty of the lake make the sailboat a perfect location for meditation, therapy, or learning how to sail in a low-pressure environment.
  • We have psychiatric care- Northwest College Support can admit students with clinical needs in part because students have access to a psychiatrist who works closely with the program. Life coaches also can provide medication management and education to students.
  • You can finish high school or earn your GED while at Northwest College Support- Just because we have “college” in our name, doesn’t mean we only admit college students. If a student is 18 years-old and student finishing up high school, our education specialists can help coach a student through that process.
  • Northwest College Support has a student and staff softball team- Spring is beautiful here! Our staff and students have decided to take advantage of the nice weather, and have joined together to play in a local recreational softball league. The team is made up of all different skill levels. It’s a really fun time!
  • We have many friendly dogs that hang out at our facility- Bear is a German Sheppard, and our certified therapy dog in training. Other friendly dogs around the office include: Lucky (Border Collie), Louie (Australian Sheppard), Rudy (Britney Spaniel), Jack (Husky), and Mercedes (dachshund).
  • Speaking of dogs… students at Northwest College Support can have pets if appropriate.
  • Northwest College Support has international students
  • There is a triathlon training program available to students facilitated through NWCS- Multiple times a week, students and staff get together as part of a training program to get ready for local races. Led by a staff member with a wealth of triathlon experience, students learn race techniques, and create personalized training and nutrition programs.
  • Northwest College Students have flexible housing options- NWCS apartments come with 1 or 2 apartment-mates, but single person apartments are available as well. In some circumstances where it has been appropriate, NWCS students have lived in their own housing or in college dorms. If students need a little extra support, there is shorter term housing available with NWCS nighttime staff (collegesupportnw.com/reset).
  • Group therapy options include a men’s group, a women’s, and a recovery group- Group therapy is not a required part of Northwest College Support, however many students choose to participate in them. NWCS Men’s Group (Save the Males) focuses on current issues surrounding manhood in today’s world. The Women’s Group (Create Yourself) is focused on creating meaningful goals. The recovery group works off of a non-12 step model, but students also have support of the program if they wish to go to local AA meetings.
