Independent Living

Leaving the nest and going to college can be as intimidating as it is exciting; full of new challenges, people, activities, passions, and responsibilities

Northwest College Support is here to support you on your journey of building new relationships, and gaining the necessary  skills for a successful college experience.

Where you live and how you structure your life is a significant factor in your success at school. We have two residential paths for students of Northwest College Support: roommate living and individual apartments. Recognizing the need for both models, some residents benefit from roommate living where they have to be challenged by the connection and compromise of living with a roommate. For some individuals they are at a point in their life where living alone is what is best for them.

NWCS utilizes our own variation of the established coaching model GROW. Or Goal, Current Reality, Options and Way Forward. A good way of thinking about the GROW Model is to think about how you’d plan a journey. First, you decide where you are going (the goal), and establish where you currently are (your current reality). You then explore various routes (the options) to your destination. In the final step, establishing the will, you ensure that you’re committed to making the journey, and are prepared for the obstacles that you could meet on the way.
