Studies have shown that skiing and snowboarding brings joy to those who partake. That joy has proven to lead to a significant increase in overall happiness. Adventuring around the slopes and zooming through every turn, allows an entrance into flow state. A flow state occurs when we become completely immersed into the activity we are engaging in. Practicing total mindfulness, forgetting all but the present moment.
At Northwest College Support, we fully embrace the area that we live in. Once the first snowfall hits, staff and students head to Lookout Pass, seeking to find their flow state. This trip then occurs each Friday up until spring season. We encourage all of our students to try one of the two activities, in hopes that they become a part of our tradition. This trip is a great way for staff and students to break away from day to day routines and engage with each other, nature, and fresh pow!
