10 Things You Should Know about Northwest College Support

Things to Know about NWCSNorthwest College Support has grown and expanded steadily since starting in 2012 and Spring 2014 has been our most successful semester to date. Perhaps things have changed since the last time you talked to us or visited NWCS. We want to make sure everyone knows the great additions to our program.  

Things you should know about Northwest College Support:

  • #1) We continue to grow! We have a maximum of 20 students in our Coeur d’Alene program. Currently at 18 students.
  • #2) Our main campus is in Coeur d’Alene with outreach support in Seattle WA, Moscow ID, and Boise ID.
  • #3) Now utilizes a 7 unit apartment complex in addition to our previous 4 houses / apartments.
  • #4) Operates a female specific house.
  • #5) Operates an Asperger’s specific house.
  • #6) Works with an in-house psychiatrist. Our psychiatrist, Dr. Carlberg is a specialist in chemical dependency issues.
  • #7) Has a rolling admission and can take a student at any time during a semester.
  • #8) Provides High School credit recovery through a local charter academy.
  • #9) Provides vocational tracks including entrepreneurial development. Because of our name many people are surprised to learn of the complex vocational options we provide.
  • #10) Continues to work with students at 4 different colleges in the Coeur d’Alene / Spokane area including North Idaho College, University of Idaho, Gonzaga, and Eastern Washington.
  • BONUS! Families and educators will be happy to know that NWCS is priced significantly lower than other comprehensive college support programs or transitional programs.

NWCS has grown rapidly over the past two years and we want to make sure you know that we are continually adding more options for our students. You may know about our high level of independence, student driven goal setting, and high level of support we provide to college aged young adults aged 18-30. You may also know about our adaptive process of allowing students the flexibility, autonomy, and structure necessary to succeed. However, you may not know about all the options and team members we have added over the last year.
